Qualification Overview
The FREE Level 2 Certificate in Driving Goods Vehicles (Highfield Qualification) is designed to support individuals seeking to develop the competencies required to work effectively as van drivers or rigid vehicle drivers within the logistics and transport sector.
With the continued expansion of the online retail and delivery industry, there is a significant and sustained demand for qualified goods vehicle drivers across a wide range of employers, including online retailers, distribution companies, and major supermarket chains.
This FREE (subject to eligibility) qualification provides learners with the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required to operate safely, efficiently, and professionally within this environment.
Course Content
Learners undertaking this qualification will develop the ability to:
- Prepare a vehicle appropriately for driving
- Protect the vehicle and its load in line with organisational and legal requirements
- Operate and monitor vehicle systems effectively
- Manoeuvre vehicles safely within restricted spaces
- Obtain and interpret relevant information for the collection and delivery of loads
Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be 19 years of age or older
- Demonstrate BKSB Literacy and Numeracy skills at Entry Level 2 or above
- Hold a Full Category B (Car) Driving Licence for the Van Pathway
- Hold a Category C Licence for the Rigid Pathway
- Reside within the Cheshire area
Certification
Successful completion of this programme leads to the award of a Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Driving Goods Vehicles, accredited by Highfield Qualifications and valued at 29 credits.
Progression Opportunities
On achievement of this qualification, learners may wish to progress to one of the following pathways or qualifications:
- Level 2 Certificate in Driving Goods Vehicles (Category C&E)
- Level 3 Diploma in Driving Goods Vehicles (Van)
- Level 3 Diploma in Driving Goods Vehicles (Rigid)
- Level 3 Diploma in Driving Goods Vehicles (Category C&E)
Learners may also progress directly into employment within the transport and logistics sector.
