The JCB Skills Academy recently welcomed members of Blind Veterans UK for a memorable visit celebrating lifelong learning, shared experiences and the value of community connection.

Among the visitors was Jim, aged 98, who joined the army as an apprentice at just 18 years old. During his military service, he drove HGV vehicles as part of a Special Invasion Team, training in Scotland before serving in Greece, Italy and Egypt.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to spend time with the group, hear their incredible stories and reflect on the experiences and resilience of those who have served.

The session also highlighted an important message — that learning, skills development and meaningful engagement can continue at any age.
