One of the graduates from the North East Wales Skills Academy (NEWSA) programme delivered an inspiring presentation at the OLESG event in Wrexham this week, highlighting the life-changing impact of skills training and employability support.
Since leaving HMP Berwyn earlier this year, the learner has successfully completed both Cat C and C+E driver training and has now secured employment with Ashwaste Environmental Limited.
The event also provided an opportunity to speak with staff from HMP Parc, HMP Swansea, HMP Cardiff and HMP Berwyn about the NEWSA Skills Programme and the role training can play in supporting rehabilitation, employability and long-term positive outcomes.
The graduate’s journey serves as another powerful example of how vocational training, opportunity and partnership working can help individuals rebuild their lives and progress into sustainable employment.
Special thanks were given to Andy Hulme, Claire Hinchcliffe and Chad Harper for their support.
