Over the past nine months, the North East Wales Skills Academy (NEWSA) programme has supported hundreds of individuals across North Wales through training, employability support and skills development initiatives.
Since launching from a standing start, the programme has worked with 49 young people from organisations including Coleg Cambria, The King’s Trust and Ysgol Y Grango, alongside 230 adults looking to secure employment, progress within their current careers or retrain for new opportunities.
The programme has also supported 30 blind and partially sighted veterans from Blind Veterans UK, further highlighting the inclusive nature of the initiative.
Learners supported through NEWSA have ranged in age from just 15 years old to an incredible 98 years old, demonstrating that skills development and learning opportunities can positively impact people at every stage of life.
The programme’s success has been made possible through extensive partnership working involving organisations including Wrexham Leadership Alliance, WeMindTheGap, Tenstar Simulation AB, Communities for Work Plus, Department for Work and Pensions, COPA Training, Wrexham University, Ambition North Wales, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, NPTC Group of Colleges, matrix Standard, NPORS and many others.
Special thanks were also given to the team at Gatewen Training Services and all delivery partners whose support has helped create meaningful opportunities for individuals, communities and employers across the region.
The programme continues to demonstrate how training and collaboration can genuinely change lives.
