Year 11 pupils from Ysgol Y Grango recently visited the JCB Skills Academy as part of an innovative new vocational skills pilot programme designed to introduce young people to future career opportunities across key sectors.
The programme is being delivered through a partnership involving JCB Wrexham, NPORS, Wrexham Leadership Alliance and several local secondary schools.
The initiative aims to give learners practical insight into careers within manufacturing, construction, logistics and agriculture, while helping to strengthen links between employers, schools and the future workforce. Plans are also underway to expand the programme into the hospitality sector.
The pilot reflects a growing commitment to providing meaningful vocational experiences and helping young people better understand the opportunities available to them beyond traditional academic pathways.
Special thanks were given to Craig Weeks, Lana Hockaday, Russ Austin, Wayne Brown and Geoff Jones from NPORS for their ongoing support with the programme.
