A Year 10 pupil from Ysgol Y Grango has recently been gaining valuable workplace experience with the admin team at Gatewen Training Services as part of a developing work experience initiative aimed at supporting young people into future careers.
Aisha, who has also been studying Business part-time at Coleg Cambria over the past year, was keen to experience a real working environment and develop her practical skills alongside her studies.
During her placement, she supported a range of administrative activities, worked with the company’s CRM system and assisted team members with day-to-day IT tasks, quickly becoming a valued member of the team.
The placement highlighted the important role work experience can play in helping young people explore career pathways, build confidence and make informed decisions about their future, particularly at a time when such opportunities can often be limited.
A particularly memorable moment during the placement came when Aisha received a surprise visit from her taid (grandad), who also works within the industry — creating a proud moment for both generations.
